Standards
Supporting People at Barnet Council has a contract with your support provider (in some cases your landlord) to provide you with quality housing related support that helps you live independently.
Your housing related support services will
- Assess your housing support needs with you and/or a family member or carer
- Draw up a ‘support plan’ with you that explains what help you need to maintain your independence, and how you would like to be able to improve your independence
- Review your support plan with you regularly
- Make sure that you know how to comment or complain about your housing related support service
- Make sure that you feel safe and that you know what to do in an emergency
- Make sure the information you get is in your preferred language, and making sure that the service is culturally appropriate for you.
Under Supporting People, service providers need to make sure their Supporting People service is up to standard. We want to make sure that all services are:
- High quality
- Meet people's needs
- Offer value for money to the people of Barnet.
Tell us what you think
The Supporting People team checks the services to see if standards are being met. If there are serious concerns, we will carry out a full service review and require improvements to be made.
We want to talk to the people who use the services, carers and anyone else involved in the service, to find out what they think about it. We will use the information you give us to make a plan for improving the service.
We would also like to find out what services you think are needed. Look out for notices about meetings or contact us directly and let us know what you think.
