Using the site


Site navigation

  • You can access the main content sections of the website (such as the service directory, charging, standards, strategy and meetings and contact us) using the 'left hand navigation menu.
  • You can always return to the Supporting People home page using the 'Home' link found in the left hand menu of every page.

Providers section - password access only

The provider's section of the Supporting People website is password access only.  The password will be issued by the Supporting People team to contact managers by email and will be periodically updated.

Site search

  • You can search all site content from the search box in the main site banner
  • You can also within the service directory content only, from the main service directory page.

File formats


PDF documents

Documents marked are saved in PDF (Portable Document Format), which has the advantage of providing an identical look to the original document both on screen and as a printed page. PDF files can also be magnified on the screen without any loss of quality.

To read them you will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The latest version of the free Adobe Reader includes accessibility support for people with visual impairment or motor disabilities.

Microsoft Word documents

Documents marked Word document  are saved in Microsoft Word format (DOC). This is a widely used word processing package. To read them you will need to have Microsoft Word software on your computer.

Alternatively, the free Microsoft Word viewer is available for downloading from the Microsoft website.

Microsoft Excel documents

Documents marked Excel document are saved in Microsoft Excel format (XLS). This is a widely used spreadsheet package. To read them you will need to have Microsoft Excel software on your computer.

Alternatively, the free Microsoft Excel viewer is available for downloading from the Microsoft website.

Downloading files or documents

In the case of relatively large files, (and PDF forms that you need to complete and return by post), you are advised to save the file directly onto your own computer rather than opening it via your web browser.

On a PC, and using the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser right-click on the link, select "Save Target As", and choose a suitable location on your PC; using the Netscape web browser right-click on the link and choose "Save Link As".
