Description:
Barnet Refugee Service aims to improve the quality of life and promote the inclusion and integration of refugees and asylum seekers in Barnet through: improved acess to health and community; improved services raising awareness of the needs and difficulties of refugees and asylum seekers; increaased employment opportunities; increased awareness of refugees and asylum seekers of their rights and responsibilities. Barnet Refugee Service is a new organisation formed from two well established projects, the Refugee Health Access Project at Barnet Voluntary Service Council and the Asylum Seekers Project at Homeless Action in Barnet.

Special Requirements and Limitations:
Provides advice, advocacy, information and support to refugees and asylum seekers in Barnet. Organises training and workshops for professionals about refugee issues.

This service offers advice combined with floating support. The service runs different projects, i.e. women's group, youth work including football for young people, girls' group, mentoring project, drop in for destitute asylum seekers, seasonal ESOL classes
