Older people

Description:
Barnet Council provides the Care and Repair Service to support older people and people with illnesses or disabilities who need repairs or adaptations to their homes. The service can carry out a survey, help you find a suitable builder and check the work is completed properly. The service cannot pay for building work, although it can help disabled people to claim grants for adaptations The service can also carry out improvements to reduce your heating bills and check that you are receiving the right benefits. 
Accommodation Details:
This service does not provide housing or other accommodation, although it can help to make your home safe, fit and warm. 
Service suitable for:
Any older person or disabled person who needs help with home repairs, improvements or adaptations. 
Special Requirements and Limitations:
None 
Support Period:
Up to two years 
Charging:
Support and advice is provided free of charge but if any work is organised a fee is charged of 10% for works under £2000 and 15% for works over £2000 If a Local Authority Grant is applied for the fee will be paid by the grant.

100 people per year
